MEN’S T-SHIRTS
The fabric weight and yarn quality are crucial. A heavier gsm fabric holds its shape through repeated washing rather than thinning and losing structure at the neck and hem. Finer, longer-staple quality cotton fibres produce a smoother, more consistent surface that resists pilling and maintains its colour more reliably over time. The reinforced neck prevents the collar from stretching out after a season of wear, and interior seam finishing reduces friction against the skin and prevents internal seams from fraying.
Cotton quality determines how a t-shirt feels, how it wears, and how long it lasts. Higher-quality cotton uses longer fibres, producing a smoother, softer feel and greater durability. The way the yarn is spun also matters: a finer yarn count creates a crisper, cleaner surface with better colour retention. Cotton grown without synthetic inputs is more consistent in fibre quality, which flows through to a more even fabric and a more comfortable wear.
Rodd & Gunn sources cotton from select Australian and American growers, chosen for their high land management and ethical farming practices. That provenance matters in the finished garment: consistent growing standards produce consistent fibre, and consistent fibre produces fabric that holds its shape, its colour, and its feel over time.
The range covers crew neck styles in both solid colours and marle textures. Solid styles are available across a wide palette of seasonally updated colours. Marle styles use a melange yarn construction that blends fibres of slightly different tones before spinning, producing a subtly textured appearance rather than a solid colour.
The range is available in Sports Fit and Original Fit. Sports Fit is the slimmer of the two, fitted across the chest and shoulder for a closer, more contemporary fit. Original Fit has more room through the body for a relaxed, comfortable wear. Both fits are available across a wide range of colours.
The shoulder seam should sit at the edge of the shoulder bone, not drop onto the upper arm. In a Sports Fit, the chest and torso should feel close without pulling or restricting movement. The sleeve should end at the mid-bicep, not ride up toward the shoulder or hang past the elbow. The hem should sit at the hip, long enough to tuck if needed but not so long it hangs loosely below the waistband. In an Original Fit, the same principles apply with more room through the body: the fabric should drape cleanly rather than cling, without excess fabric gathering at the sides.
