INSPIRED BY

NATURE

We draw our inspiration from New Zealand’s natural realm for our Autumn/Winter 2019 collection.
Echoing the hues of nature, we take our colour cues from New Zealand’s pristine glaciers, craggy mountain ranges, snow-fed rivers, clean blue horizons, inky midnight skies, mossy greens, muted twilights, stone greys and subdued neutrals for the latest collection. Ancient forests and lush hidden valleys give rise to verdant greens and botanical motifs inspired by the traditional vegetation. New Zealand’s South Island has a distinct palette informed by the earthiness of volcanic rock formations and the muted greens of the tussocky high country.

Misty mornings, snow swept mountains ranges and the resilient high country are all inspiration for a winter wardrobe designed to withstand whatever winter throws at you. Fabrics enhanced with high-performance finishes, such as wax and PU coatings, protect against the ever-changing moods of the untamed New Zealand landscape. Our jackets feature varying layers of warmth, and are distinguished with zip out liners and high-performance insulations.

Our richly textured sweaters boast machine washable nano-tech finishings. Equipped for the elements, functional details such as hardwearing zips and snaps, large stow-away and warming pockets, removable shearling and borg-fleece collars.

QUALITY WITHOUT

COMPROMISE

The natural environment is in our bones at Rodd & Gunn, so we have long strived to make sure our clothes don’t compromise it. Natural and renewable fabrics to create garments that protect you, embrace you and free you. Our range concentrates on sustainable fabrics like cotton, merino wool, alpaca, cashmere and ethically sourced leather. Drawing on their inherent natural qualities our designers create garments that showcase these materials, yarns and fibres - to deliver style, comfort and warmth. Plus, we also pursue suppliers with a commitment to sustainable practices.

Our soft and breathable cottons are of finest available, which are primarily sourced from Italian and European Mills. The fabric mills we partner with in Europe operate under the highest possible environmental and social standards in the industry.

With our New Zealand origins, it is only natural that Rodd & Gunn should embrace the use of wool – a 100% natural, highly renewable and environmentally-friendly fibre. We source the best wools from around the world, including fine New Zealand Merino from sheep which graze in the high country above the Canterbury Plains. The wool used by Rodd & Gunn is chosen for its fineness, strength and length of fibre, all vital qualities for the manufacture of premium wool garments. In addition, our Woolmark Accreditation is an independent quality endorsement of the wool Rodd & Gunn use. As a result, our wool garments last for years when looked after correctly, making them a sustainable natural product. And when the garment is eventually disposed of, it is fully biodegradable.

Often referred to as a ‘noble’ fibre due to its superior quality, cashmere is a renewable fibre prized for its superior softness and warmth. Our cashmere knits should be considered investment pieces that will continue to serve you and look great for many years to come.
