22 October 2024
With its next-to-skin softness and durability, wool garments are known to stand the test of time. But caring for wool can be tricky, and if not done correctly, your garments can lose their shape and texture.

1. ALWAYS READ THE CARE LABEL

Always read the care label before washing your wool clothing. This will give you important information about the recommended washing method, such as whether it can be machine-washed or needs to be hand-washed.

2. WASHING WOOL

Use cold water and a mild detergent. Avoid using hot water or bleach, as this can damage the fibres and cause shrinkage.

3. HOW TO WASH

If your wool item is delicate or has intricate detailing, it may need to be hand-washed. Fill a basin with cool water and add a small amount of wool detergent. Be sure to rinse thoroughly after and gently squeeze out excess water.

4. DRYING YOUR WOOL ITEM

When drying your wool item, avoid hanging it on a hanger, as this can cause it to stretch out of shape. Instead, lay it flat on a clean, dry towel.

5. STORAGE

To keep your wool items looking their best, store them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Taking care of your investment pieces will not only extend their lifespan but also help you get the most out of your wardrobe. Follow these tips to make sure your favorite Rodd & Gunn pieces last season after season.
