Shorts

The range is built primarily around cotton and cotton-elastane blends, with linen available in select styles. The cotton styles use a micro-textured or two-tone woven fabric, enriched with a small amount of elastane for stretch and ease of movement. The linen styles are made from premium linen, chosen for its temperature-regulating properties and natural breathability. Both fabric families are pre-washed for softness.

The Original Fit is the signature Rodd & Gunn cut: a clean, straight leg with a comfortable Back panel and thigh. Resort Fit has a relaxed thigh with an elasticated drawstring waist, designed for ease and comfort. Sports Fit is the slimmest cut, sitting closer through the leg for a more tailored look.

Select styles in the range are made using more sustainable materials and processes. The linen shorts are sewn using EcoVerde™ 100% recycled premium sewing thread. The cotton used across some styles is sourced from certified sustainable programmes. Rodd & Gunn continues to work toward broader use of lower-impact materials across its ranges.

Shorts should sit at the natural waist without pulling or gaping. There should be enough room through the thigh to move freely, without excess fabric bunching. The leg opening should fall cleanly without flaring. As a general rule, the hem should sit just above or at the knee for a clean, proportionate finish regardless of leg length or fit style.
