What to Wear to a Wedding
7TH MARCH 2023Attending a wedding can be an exciting and daunting prospect for any gentleman. Deciding what to wear to such an occasion can be challenging, but fear not; we've got you covered.
Let's run through the do's and don'ts of dressing for a wedding and ensure you look and feel your best.
The first thing to consider is the time of day and the dress code. If the wedding is in the daytime, consider lighter fabrics and colours. A summer outfit in linen or cotton would be perfect for warding off any unwanted heat. Opt for darker pieces in navy or black if the wedding is in the evening.
If the dress code alludes to smart-casual, the key is to strike a balance between formal and casual. Think polished and put together, but not stuffy or overdressed.
Don a men's blazer or sports coat like our Cascades Sports Fit Jacket or the Glovers Sports Fit Jacket. Both options are soft-tailored and crafted in breathable fabrics, perfect for long days. Pair them with dress pants or slim chinos in a complementary colour.

Next, think about the location and the theme of the wedding. If it's a beach wedding, go for a more relaxed look with lightweight pieces and a shirt without a tie. Simple shirts, linen fabric and chinos.

If the wedding errs on the side of formal, tone down the colours. Opt for darker, more structured outer pieces. Our Saint Bathans Blazers pair beautifully with a white or light-coloured button-down Oxford shirt. Finish with some Thomas Road Chinos or Edgars Road Straight fit pants and a pair of dress shoes.
When it comes to footwear, wardrobe staples like Chelsea boots or Derby shoes are both great options. Smart enough but comfortable to carry you right through to the evening.

Lastly, accessories can add a touch of sophistication to your outfit but don't overdo it. Stick to a leather or woven belt, a matching phone case, some printed socks, and you'll look and feel like the most dapper guest in the room.
