HELI FISHING EXPERIENCE WITH PRIVATE CHEF

 

 

We take ‘product to plate’ to a whole new level with this epic day out on the glistening waters of Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf. Take flight across the harbour to a remote fishing spot on an island off Auckland’s east coast where the marine life is rich and diverse. These islands stretching as far as Great Barrier Island support some of the best fishing in the world with numerous species of fish including Snapper, Kahawai and Kingfish. Hosted by culinary legend Matt Lambert the kiwi chef renowned for receiving a prestigious Michelin star for his New York venture The Musket Room and Executive Chef of the Lodge Bar Group, you will experience the ultimate in fishing and dining with Matt on hand to prepare your fresh catch in his unique and award winning style.

10:00am
Your Rodd & Gunn host will meet you at your accommodation and transfer you to the helicopter hangar.

10:30am
Depart from the heliport and head out to one of our chosen fishing spots, flying over the islands of the Hauraki Gulf - where there have been many sightings of dolphins, whales and stingrays - with a bird’s-eye view of the stunning scenery making up the land and seascape below.

11.30am - Fishing experience
We provide all the fishing equipment required for the day including: rods, reels, tackle and bait. We use top quality spinning reels and 10ft graphite rods. The helicopter and experienced, knowledgeable pilot will stay with you as your guide throughout the trip.

1:00pm - Lunch
Al fresco dining takes on a whole new meaning with private dining on a remote piece of New Zealand coast prepared for you by the culinary king and highly entertaining Matt Lambert. Showcasing Matt’s incredible skills with an array of delicious New Zealand’s produce (including your catch) and accompanied by a handpicked selection of New Zealand beverages from our Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas, this is the ultimate dining experience.

2:30pm
At the end of the day you will depart the island with a full stomach and chilly bin as you enjoy the flight back to the hangar in Albany. Upon arrival back at the hangar your Rodd & Gunn host will be onsite to transfer you back to The Lodge Bar & Dining, your accommodation or Central Auckland.
